Education:
  • A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, the Medical University of Warsaw.
  • During the studies a member of the Academic Sports Association – volleyball section.
  • From 1979 to 1982 organizational Vice-president of the ASA, a representative of the Medical Academy in volleyball and cross country skiing. 
  • He was awarded four French Government scholarships in the field of reconstructive surgery of locomotor system at the clinics in Nancy, Lyon and the Institut Europeen des Biomateriaux in Nancy
  • On 15th of January 1997 he defended his doctoral thesis at the Medical University of Warsaw, on the topic: "Evaluation of motor function recovery in rat sciatic nerve subjected to prolonged by a metal plate, in a crushing-type damage" under the direction of professor Artur Dziak.

Professional Practice:
  • From 1982 to 1990 he worked as a medicine doctor in the Department of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery Pediatric Provincial Hospital in Warsaw, headed by Tadeusz Kassura, MD. At the same time, since 1984, he was a researcher in the Department of Experimental Surgery and Transplant Centre of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, Polish Academy of Sciences headed by professor Waldemar Olszewski, working on microsurgical models for research into the immune system; he was an instructor during microsurgery courses.
  • In the years 1986 - 1988 he served shifts in the Department of Plastic Surgery Medical University of Warsaw, in the upper limb trauma unit.
  • From 1990 to 1999 he worked in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Medical University of Warsaw, headed by professor Artur Dziak, since 1996 as senior assistant, since 1997 as an assistant professor of the Academy of Medicine.
  • On April 28th, 1998, Dr. Grzegorz Adamczyk, Dr. Robert Śmigielski and shareholders registered Carolina Medical Center, a private sports medicine clinic
  • As a Head of Upper Limb Department he performes over 300 operations a year
  • Since April 2006 he has been one of the Polish Volleyball team members’ doctor.
  • In October 2006 he was appointed to a medical doctor of the Polish Olympic Committee.
  • In August 2008 he worked as a doctor of Polish Volleyball team during Olympics in Beijing.

Memberships:
  • From April 2009 the ISAKOS Education Committee Member
  • From October 2009 a member of the ESSKA Committee of Upper Limbs
  • Since May 2010 he sits on the Board of the European Federation of Sports Injury Treatment

Member of numerous national and international scientific societies.

Author and co-author of 50 published scientific reports, 100 presentations at international and Polish scientific congresses.
