Specialist in Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) operations (first in Poland, executed over 400 procedures)


Education:

  • A graduate of the Medical University of Warsaw in 1991
  • Post-graduate training was held at the Central Clinical Hospital of Military Medical Academy in Warsaw of professor D. Tylman ward
  • He underwent several internships, among others in the Mayo Clinic in the U.S. as well as the Apra Clinic in Antwerp

Professional Practice:

  • During the years 1993 - 2003 he worked in the Musculoskeletal Trauma Surgery Department of Postgraduate Education Medical Centre in the hospital in Otwock named after Professor A. Gruca, where he dealt with treatment of injuries, hip replacements, elbow and ankle surgeries
  • Since 2003 he has been working at the Carolina Medical Center where he is the head of hip pain treatment department while working in other competence centers
  • He performs over 200 operations a year.

Research and publications:

  • Quadriceps and hamstring atrophy and weakness after the knee trauma and operational treatment. Clinical, dynamometrical and EMG evaluation (Research study and paper for the PhD grade)
  • Quadriceps and Hamstring Atrophy and Weakness After the Knee Trauma and Treatment (Laskowski J.M.,  Pomianowski S., Orłowski J.)
  • Quadriceps and hamstring strength after anterior cruciate ligament rupture treated operatively with Leeds-Keio prosthesis and without surgery (Laskowski JM, Pomianowski S, Orłowski J) 
  • Internal fixation in the treatment of radial head fractures (Pomianowski S, Sawicki G, Laskowski J.)
  • Birmingham Hip Resurfacing  arthroplasty in Carolina Medical Center (Laskowski JM Acta Clinica  2003 Lato; tom 3, Nr 2 ,  167-172)

  • Return to physical activity after the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing
    arthtroplasty
  • Planning of the first metatarsal osteotomy in CT and MRI  in hallux valgus  operational correction (project based on the grant from the Ministry of Science)
